The St. Cloud Police Department is asking the public to be on the lookout for mail or phone scams. According to police, a person from St. Cloud recently received letters and phone calls that said they had won a significant prize. That person was asked to send $20 to the company to receive the prize. In one case, police say, a $4,000 check was deposited into the person’s bank account that was later found to be fraudulent. Police ask citizens to ignore prize mailings or telephone calls and to not give out personal financial information to avoid getting scammed.
