St. Cloud Police would like to warn people about the possibility of fraudulent activity regarding tree removal. Police say they’ve received several reports of a landscaping and tree services that agree to remove trees and stumps but demand cash up front and don’t complete the job. As a reminder, everyone should use caution every time you are making cash transaction before the work is complete. 

Here are a few tips provided by the St. Cloud Police Department in order to avoid falling prey to this type of scam:

-Demand a written contract up front
-Do not provide the entire payment in cash before the work is complete
-Check out the buisiness by asking for references
-Check with the Better Business Bureau
-Check the phonebook to see if the company has an actual listing (A business card does not necessarly make it a reputable company)
