Renowned storm chaser Joshua Wurman, formerly of the TV show Storm Chasers as seen on the Discovery Channel, will be speaking on Wednesday at 2 p.m., at SCSU. Wurman received his doctorate from MIT and is an expert on tornadoes, hurricanes and radar. He also developed the Doppler on wheels, or DOW, a mobile Doppler radar, used to get close to severe weather events. His talk will highlight new developments in severe weather research involving the DOW, and his visit marks the beginning of a two week deployment of the DOW at SCSU to study autumn storms in the northern plains.
