MnDOT has announced the recipients of $768,000 in federal funding for Safe Routes to schools. Safe Routes Minnesota provides funding to community and school groups to make improvements to the routes your children use to walk and bike to school.

The grants were awarded to 70 schools in 35 communities. Implementation grants that provide funding for education as well as enforcement and evaluation activities were awarded to 22 schools in nine communities.

Each grant includes a resolution of support from the local governing body to ensure community support. Schools around the area receiving these grants are St. Cloud, New London, Willmar and Staples.
