Archived: SCSU Baseball Player to be Sworn in as Mayor

A big week is shaping up for St. Cloud State baseball captain Kent Koch. On Monday the senior captain and second baseman starts practice for the Huskies’ upcoming season. And on Tuesday he gets sworn in as the mayor of his hometown of Loretto. The 23-year-old ran unopposed for the two-year term and won the job in November.

Koch also will be responsible for running the City Council meetings. He says he’s already met with some of his fellow council members. Koch has three credits left to graduate from SCSU. He says his finance major will come in handy in his new job as mayor.
