Archived: SCSU Bows out at Regional Championship

The St.Cloud State Men’s Hockey team made history last week but was not able to keep their season going the following night. The Huskies got their first national tournament win in school history with a 4-3 double overtime win against Northern Michigan in the first round on Friday.

The Huskies took on Wisconsin in the West Regional Championship game on Saturday but fell to the Badgers 5-3, which allowed Wisconsin to advance to the Frozen Four in Detroit.

Senior forward Ryan Lasch finished his SCSU career on top of the all-time scoring charts with 183 points, charting 104 career assists. The other seniors departing from the team are Craig Gaudet, Ryan Peckskamp, Jon Ammerman and captain, Garrett Raboin.

The Huskies finished the season third in the WCHA, advanced to the Final Five championship game and won their first national tournament game in program history.
