Archived: SCSU Commencement Ceremonies Saturday
Minnesota’s second largest university will officially bid farewell to about 1,300 students Saturday. St. Cloud State will hold two commencement ceremonies for undergraduate and graduate students at the National Hockey Center on campus. The morning ceremony will be at 10:30 and the afternoon ceremony will be at 3:00.
The morning ceremony will be for students from the GR Herberger College of Business, the College of Social Sciences, and Continuing Studies. The afternoon ceremony will honor students graduating from the Colleges of Education, Fine Arts and Humanities, and Science and Engineering. St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis will make brief remarks at each ceremony and degrees will be given by SCSU President Earl Potter.
At the morning ceremony, an honorary doctorate will be given to SCSU alum Gordon Viere. He’s the CEO of one of America’s 20 largest accounting and consulting firms. The afternoon ceremony will feature speaker Meggie Mapes, a communication studies interdepartmental major from LeMars, Iowa.
