Archived: SCSU Dean To Leave Post

The Dean of Learning Resources and Technology Services at St. Cloud State University, Dr. Kristi Tornquist is leaving for a new position.  President Potter made that announcement to the faculty and staff in a recent email announcement.  Starting July 22, Tornquist will be the new Chief University Librarian for South Dakota State University in Brookings.

SDSU is South Dakota’s largest higher education institution offering undergraduate, masters and Ph.D. programs.

President Potter says for nearly 14 years Tornquist has been a leader for the university and the MnSCU system for library, media and technology services.  From the year leading up to the construction phase of the Miller Center through redesign and completion of the facility that quickly became the hub of campus life she provided the dedication and hard work to complete a complex and significant project.  Under her leadership St. Cloud State added both wired and wireless networks, formalized the campus web environment, and significantly increased the number of electronic classrooms and general access computer labs.

Tornquist served many roles at the statewide level as well. A search for a new LRTS Dean will begin this fall.
