Archived: SCSU Likely to Offer Retirement Incentives to Staff
St. Cloud State is considering offering retirement incentives to university staff in order to offset job loss. According to the office of administrative affairs, about $1 million could be utilized for severance offers to SCSU employees who fall under the following categories: secretaries and janitorial staff, middle management, administrative services, and employees of the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees.
The Office of Administrative Affairs says severance packages will likely be offered by March for retirements that would be effective at the end of the fiscal year, on June 30th, 2011. The offers will likely include about two years of health insurance premiums or a portion of salary. Offers will be made to eligible employees in areas where reductions are planned. The administration says it will consider all employees who accept the offer and make final offers based on the need for staff reductions.
