Archived: SCSU Lockdown

A building on the St. Cloud State University campus was temporarily placed under lock-down Monday as result of a reported possible weapon inside. Just before 8 a.m. officers were called to the Engineering and Computer Center responding to a report of a suspicious man who had gone in the building with a possible weapon in his pocket.

The man who was student was found inside a different building and the weapon in question was actually a tool for an educational project he was working on. Students and staff were issued a broadcast e-mail and text issued by SCSU about the lock-down at the time of the alert and later received a second messaged notifying them that the lock-down was canceled. Police say there will be no criminal charges.
