It was a rough weekend in the sun for the St. Cloud State men’s basketball team as they lost to Cal-State Dominguez Hills and Grand Canyon in the Grand Canyon University Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona.

Friday night saw the Huskies fall to Cal-State Dominguez Hills 78-65 Taylor Witt led the Huskies with 17 points in the contest and Ben Bucholz added 10 off the bench. The Toros used a balanced effort as they had four players score in double figures.

It wasn’t any easier for the Huskies on Saturday as they fell to the host school, Grand Canyon University, by a 71-65 score. Husky shooting guard Brett Putz led all scorers as he notched 23 points while knocking down a career-high seven three-pointers.

SCSU is now 0-3 on the season and will be in action next November 29th at home against St. Scholastica.
