Archived: SCSU Rolls into 2nd Place
After a win against Wayne State on Friday night, the Saint Cloud State Men’s Basketball team was locked in a showdown for 2nd place in the NSIC conference against No. 17 Augustana on Saturday.
It didn’t look good for the Huskies from the start as the Vikings jumped to a 15-0 lead and led 19-2 at one point. For as bad as Saint Cloud was from the start, the team got on a roll later in the first half and went on to cruise by Augustana with a final score of 68-58.
Brett Putz led the Huskies in scoring with 19 points and Matt Schneck ended the night with his 12th double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
With the two wins, Saint Cloud improves to 16-4 overall with a 10-3 mark in the conference. The Huskies return on the road this weekend with games against Minnesota-Duluth and Bemidji State.
