Archived: SCSU Set to Host Two Math Contests In the Next Two Months

SCSU will host the MATHCOUNTS competition Tuesday and will draw in more than 100 talented middle school students. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Atwood’s Voyageurs room. MATHCOUNTS is a math competition for middle school students. The event is being coordinated by the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers and local engineers will help with the test administration and scoring. Also the 44th annual SCSU Math Contest will be hosted on Thursday April 7 by the departments of mathematics, statistics, computer science and computer networking. Last year almost 1,700 students from grades 7-12 participated. Scholarships will be available to seniors that perform well and plan to attend SCSU.
