Archived: SCSU to Campus: “Only Essential Purchases”

St. Cloud State University officials are asking all campus employees to tighten up their spending through the end of June. In an email sent to faculty and staff by Steven Ludwig, SCSU’s Vice President for Administrative Affairs, he said “Supply and equipment purchases through the end of the fiscal year (should) be approved only for essential items.” He went on to say “This is an extraordinary action in extraordinary times that may diminish the disruption of the University.”

The “disruption” is in reference to an order issued last Friday by Governor Tim Pawlenty, requiring state agencies to take an inventory of all programs and identify payments that can be postponed in the event of a cash crunch. Ludwig says the cash SCSU can save between now and the end of June “may be material to planning for continued operations and payment of salaries after July 1st should the Governor’s concerns come to pass.”
