Archived: SCSU Wind Ensemble to Hold Relief Concert for Japan

The St. Cloud State University Wind Ensemble will be presenting their latest concert, Ganbare Japan, a Relief Benefit Concert to aid rebuilding of Japan after the triple disaster of March 11th 2011.

The concert will take place on Tuesday March 20th and will include American classics as well as Japanese band works. Japanese festival customs, attire, and traditions will be on display in the lobby before the concert. Professor of music and Director of bands Richard Hansen will give a pre-concert talk on his residency experiences teaching in Japan and on the current state of rebuilding.

Donations will be taken at the event and all the proceeds will go directly to Crash Japan, which is an association of Tokyo churches to meet the needs of survivors in Tohoku. The concert is free to SCSU students faculty and staff, children under 12, senior citizens and veterans.  Adult tickets at $8.  The concert will take place at 7 p.m. at Kimberly Ritsche Auditorium.
