Shed Catches Fire at Waste Management Company Near Melrose
A shed caught on fire at a waste management company near Melrose yesterday.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says that the shed was on the property of Tom’s Refuse located on Thunder Road in Millwood Township around 10:50 p.m. last night.
The fire was first reported by Keith Frank, a 58-year-old Pequot Lakes man, who was staying in his camper near the shed. Frank’s camper lost power and he went to check the breaker system and saw the shed on fire.
The shed and everything inside of it were heavily damaged resulting in roughly $800,000 in damages. The cause of the fire is still unknown and is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Nobody was injured during the fire.
The Melrose, Freeport, and Sauk Centre fire departments, as well as Melrose Ambulance, assisted in this case.
