A 20-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting, fleeing the scene, and assaulting officers, police say. It happened at around 9:00 Monday night at Shopko West in St. Cloud. Police say William Brim of Eau Claire, Wisconsin stole something from the store and ran away. Waite Park officers found the suspect and put him in custody near Marketplace Annex on 2nd Avenue in Waite Park. That’s when, police say, Brim tried to punch an officer several times and attempted to get away. During the struggle, police say the officer and suspect fell to the ground and the suspect ran away again, only to be taken into custody again by officers. Police say a Waite Park officer suffered a cut on his hand and was punched in the shoulder. Another officer was allegedly spit on by the suspect. Brim is being held in the Stearns County Jail and faces charges of assault, obstructing legal process, fleeing on foot, and theft.
