It took a seven round shootout, but the Saint Cloud State Soccer team won its first conference playoff game in school history with a 6-5 shootout win over Bemidji State Wednesday night in the first round of the NSIC playoffs.

The Huskies trailed late into the second half but Jessica Pafko connected with Chelsey Scheller with 7.22 remaining in the contest to tie the game up at 1-1. After a scoreless overtime, the teams went into a shootout where Pafko recorded another point and the game winner to send the Huskies into the semi-finals of the conference tournament.

Saint Cloud will take on the University of Minnesota-Duluth on Friday afternoon in Winona for a chance to play for the NSIC Tournament Championship. Saint Cloud and UMD tied 0-0 in their first meeting while the Bulldogs won their second matchup 1-0. The winner of this contest will take on the victor of Winona and Minnesota State-Mankato on Sunday.
