Archived: Soccer Drops Pair of Home Games

A tough weekend for St. Cloud State sports didn’t get any better on the home turf of Husky Stadium where the SCSU soccer team dropped a pair of contests. The squad suffered a 1-0 setback to Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday, and as heard on 88.1 FM KVSC, the Huskies fell 4-1 to Minnesota State-Mankato on Sunday. With the losses, St. Cloud drops to 4-1 on the season.

St. Cloud’s lone goal on the weekend came in Sunday’s match. With the Huskies trailing 2-0 to the Mavericks and half time approaching, Mary Morhardt booted a shot to the corner of the net to cut the lead in half. The momentum gained from the goal however was not carried over into the second half as MSU scored twice to pull away.

St. Cloud has two games at home this week with a matchup with Sioux Falls Wednesday and a Sunday matchup with MSU-Moorehead. For updates on Husky soccer, tune into Husky Sports Friday this Friday at 4:30 to hear from head coach Becky Heiberger-McCabe in our 5 Questions Segment.
