Archived: St. Cloud Alzheimer’s Walk a Success

St. Cloud’s fall Alzheimer’s walk raised 47 percent more funds than last year’s walk. On September 24th more than 850 residents from all over central Minnesota joined the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Lake George in St. Cloud. Participants did more than walk the mile and a half route around Lake George, they also learned about Alzheimer’s disease, the association’s role with research, how to get involved in advocacy of local and national support programs.

The 20 members of Team Sand, led by team captain Joyce Winter of Albany, received the Top Team Fundraiser Award for raising more than $10,800. Katherine Payne of Minnetonka who was also team captain of The Betty Jewels received the Top Individual Fundraiser Award, raising 3,000 dollars.

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest evet to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support, and research. Participants in this year’s walk raised more than $100,000 that will fund Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs.
