Members of a St. Cloud based Army Battalion received notification this week they will be deployed to southwest Asia in mid-January. The United States Army Reserve’s 367th Engineer Battalion will be gone for at least one year.  Details about how many soldiers being deployed and their precise location are expected after the New Year. The battalion will work to stabilize the country they are deployed to and will help protect troops.  Some of the work the unit does includes airfield and road improvement, emplacing and destroying obstacles along with breaching mine fields to improve troop mobility and survivability.

From 2004 to 2005 this same unit served in Afghanistan.
