St. Cloud Driver Crashes Into Bus, Flees Scene

Authorities were able to find the St. Cloud driver who fled the scene of a collision with a school bus with passengers inside on Friday.

The St. Cloud Police Department says they responded to a report of a hit-and-run at the intersection of 22nd Street South and Shannon Drive just before 3:45 p.m.

Sixty-year-old Wayne Anthony Parker was driving the bus at the time of the crash. A car drove up quickly behind the bus before attempting to pass it as the bus made a left turn. The car collided with the bus in the middle of the driver’s side. The car then went into reverse and drove off.

Parker was able to catch a description and parts of the license plate.

A few hours later, a parking control officer found the car that had fled the scene. The suspected driver admitted to crashing into the bus and leaving before they could provide information. A 17-year-old St. Cloud resident was cited for failing to stop at an accident.

The bus held six passengers at the time of the crash. No one was injured, and every passenger was dropped off safely.
