The Minnesota State Patrol says a 42-year-old man from St. Cloud died on Interstate 94 early this (Friday) morning.

The victim’s name will be released once relatives are notified. The crash happened around 5 a.m. in the eastbound lane of I-94 near Opportunity Drive.

The state patrol’s report says the man was driving his Honda Accord eastbound and pulled over to the right shoulder and tried to make a U-turn.

A pick-up truck behind the Honda hit the car and it came to a stop in the median ditch. The driver of the truck, 43-year-old Jason Clarence Trobec of Rice was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The roads were snowy and icy at the time of the accident and this section of Interstate 94 was closed for more than 3 hours due to accident.
