A soldier who grew up in the west-central Minnesota town of Hancock and had been living in St. Cloud has died in Iraq. Army Reserve Sgt. Kurt E. Kruize was the father of four children and a 1993 graduate of Hancock High School. His father says he died Sunday in Baghdad of a noncombat-related injury.

Lyle Kruize, of Hancock, says his son had just arrived in Iraq a month ago on his second tour of duty there. He says the Army hasn’t provided the family with further details on what happened, but the investigation is continuing. Kurt Kruize’s body arrived Tuesday night at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. His wife, Billie Kruize, of St. Cloud, was flying back from Dover on Wednesday. Funeral arrangements have not been set.
