Archived: St. Cloud State Receives $42 Million in State Borrowing for ISELF Construction
After several years of planning for an integrated science and engineering laboratory facility, or ISELF, St. Cloud State University has been granted $42 million in state borrowing to begin the project.
In a special session, the Minnesota Legislature approved $498 million in state borrowing, which includes $131 million for the Minnesota Colleges and Universities system. The funding will help SCSU with its vision of becoming a statewide leader in science education.
Plans for ISELF surfaced in the fall of 2008 with $900,000 in planning funds to create the 102,000-square-foot facility. ISELF is expected to have large, open, flexible spaces suitable for multidisciplinary teaching, research and student project development.
