Stearns County Warns of Proper Snow Removal

The Stearns County Highway Department is warning home and property owners that shoveling or snow blowing snow into the street can lead to a ticket.

The Highway Department says that plowing or shoveling snow from your driveways or sidewalks into public roads can lead to a misdemeanor fine of up to $700 and up to 90 days of jail.

Snow that is dumped onto roadways can lead to hazards for other vehicles and snowplows. Those responsible for moving snow onto the roadways maybe liable in civil lawsuits if injuries or damages occur as a result of the action.
