St. Cloud Police responded to a suicide threat at the Holiday Inn, located at 75 37th Avenue South Sunday.

A police investigation revealed that a 46-year-old Cold Spring man locked himself inside his hotel room and was in possession of a handgun.

Police worked with hotel staff to evacuate guests from nearby rooms.

A negotiator got the man to surrender peacefully.

The man has been placed on a mental health evaluation hold at the St. Cloud Hospital.
