Sunburst Memorial Acknowledges the First National Cremation Placement Day

By: Kayla Williams / Asst. News Director

ST.CLOUD, Minn.— Sunburst Memorial will recognize the first National Cremation Placement Day. Sunburst will share information about permanent resting places for cremated remains.

On Saturday, October 17, the third Saturday in October, Coldspring established the observance.

Sunburst Memorials will share educational resources through its “Forever Has A Place” campaign to help families understand and consider permanent placement for themselves and their loved ones.

“An urn may stay at home for years, and that may feel right for a family today,” said Jill Kampa, president of Sunset Memorials

“But eventually homes change, people move, and generations change. We want families to think beyond today and consider what they want that legacy to look like years from now.” He said

Cremated remains may be placed within a traditional cemetery memorial, columbarium, mausoleum, cremation garden, or another cremation memorial design.

Sunburst Memorial says the choice isn’t personal, but each creates something an urn kept in a home cannot guarantee, with cremated remains being passed from spouse, children, parents, etc.

“Permanent doesn’t have to mean traditional,” Kampa said. “There are many ways to create something personal and meaningful”

This day is a day intended to inform families who currently have cremated remains at home, as well as those considering cremation in the future

Sunset Memorial has been crafting custom monuments and memorials since 1917, and they honor memories with dignity while continually advancing into the future because cremation will forever have a place
