Archived: Task Force Works to Reduce Alcohol-Related Accidents

Police recently conducted a high-visibility DWI saturation in Sauk Rapids, Sartell and other areas of Stearns County as a part of the Central MN Reduction of Accidents for Safe Highways. Of the 134 cars pulled over during the recent enforcement effort on November 23, seven people were taken into custody for driving while impaired.

The initiative, otherwise known as the CRASH Task Force, is working to reduce serious injury and fatality crashes through DWI enforcement and education. The goals are components of the state’s Toward Zero Death initiative, an approach to address regional traffic safety issues with the participation of thirteen local police departments as well as the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department and the MN State Patrol.
