St. Cloud Police say 16 students at Tech High School were detained and will not be allowed back to school until after an investigation is complete into a fight that locked down the school Wednesday.

Tech High School went into lockdown around noon until 1 p.m. after the fight broke out.

St. Cloud Area School District says that a School Resource Officer was on scene immediately and approximately 20 more police officers were sent to the school to help provide safety for the students. Classes resumed about 1 p.m. until the school day was done at 3:15 p.m.

The 16 students detained were turned over to their parents with charges pending for their involvement in the fight. Police reported that no weapons were involved, even though there were rumors of a knife, and that there were no serious injuries.

Police will be present at Tech High School Thursday to help the school administration ensure there are no further issues. Authorities are reviewing video surveillance and consider it an active investigation.
