ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Tigers came into Tuesday’s match flying high after a three-set win over Apollo where they allowed the Eagles to score only 19 points in total. Brainerd entered the Tigers’ court with an 0-4 record on the season and was looking for its first match win.

The Tigers were not on their A-game to start the first set and fell behind during a strong service run by Ali Busby. Tech worked its way back and eventually tied the set, but it took the Warriors four set points to win, 27–25.

Tech got back on track by winning set two, 25–17. Brainerd continued to battle, especially at the end, as the Tigers needed three set points to secure the win.

The third set ended 25–22. During the set, Izzy Glieden assisted on a kill by Amber Kilanowski to set the school record for career set assists. Congratulations, Izzy!

Tech struggled again in the fourth set, losing 17–25 evening the match at two sets apiece.

In the fifth set, the Tigers scored the first point, something they had not done all night. They surged to a five-point lead before Brainerd chipped away and cut the deficit to two. However, the Tigers had built enough of a cushion to reach set point first. As in two of the previous four sets, multiple set points were needed before Tech secured the 15–11 victory.

It was an exciting match featuring tremendous play from both teams. Next, Tech will host Bemidji on Thursday night. At the time of this report, the Tigers are 3-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Bemidji is 0-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play. You can catch the action on 97.5 RadioX.
