Archived: The American Red Cross Needs Blood Donations

The number of cancelled blood and platelet donations has increased due to the massive snow storm that struck the U.S. last week. The American Red Cross says the need for blood is constant – patients can’t take a snow day. Eligible donors in unaffected areas are being urged to give blood or platelets to help offset the decreasing supply. The Red Cross overstocked major medical centers in some of the hardest hit areas in the Midwest expecting airport and road closures. In some cases local law enforcement helped with emergency deliveries of blood products. For more information on how to donate visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS
