The Reality of Teleportation

As the Music Director at KVSC, a large part of my job consists of describing and defining music. Every now and then, an artist or album comes along that defies such a definition. Morning Teleportation is one such band. The Portland, OR based quintet just recently released their debut full-length album titled "Expanding Anyway." The album constantly evolves and changes, making it very hard to finger exactly what they sound like. For instance, the album kicks off with a blast of insanity called "Boom Puma." The song features chaotic warbling vocals that are not replicated on the remainder of the album. Two of the tracks prominently use a talk box. Then there is the epic "Wholehearted Drifting Sense of Inertia," which sounds like a Modest Mouse song if Dan Deacon joined the group. The most consistant comparison would be to Modest Mouse. This should come as little surprise since Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock produced the album. You can catch this fresh new act headlining at 7th St Entry on Saturday April 16th.
