Saint Cloud State University’s debate team returns as national champions! The 99th Annual Pi Kappa Delta National Comprehensive Tournament – the largest in its history – ended with finalists and a national championship in novice Parliamentary Debate.

This year’s tournament was held in Kansas City, Kansas, where over 1100 event slots were filled and 69 colleges performed in fifteen individual events as well as four types of debate.

Several SCSU students competed, including Carolyn Ritter and her partner Daniela Lorenz who won the novice division in Parliamentary debate.

Participation in speech and debate teaches students important skills, including public speaking, interpretive analysis, research methods, and critical thinking skills.
