Authorities believe alcohol was involved when an Aldrich man crashed his truck into a pond on Friday night.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office reports 37-year-old Steven Sand was heading eastbound on County Road 154 near Pelican Lake when he slammed on his brakes to avoid a pickup truck exiting the parking lot of “The Landing”.

The pickup truck continued going north on 185^th Avenue after avoiding the collision with Sand.  Deputies arrived later and located the pickup truck in a pond, north of the intersection.

The Avon Fire Department helped remove the driver who was identified as 66-year-old Harold Blonigen from Aldrich.

Blonigen was taken by Mayo Ambulance to the St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of possible minor injuries.
