Archived: Twelve-Year-Old Girl Dies in Single Car Accident

A twelve-year-old Long Prairie girl died Sunday in a single-car accident in Millwood Township, according to Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner.

The accident happened on County Road 35 in Millwood Township at approximately 10 am yesterday. According to Sheriff Sanner, thirty-four-year-old Long Prairie resident Frank Luna lost control of his pickup truck on an icy stretch of south-bound County Road 35 and went into the ditch. The truck rolled, and the 12-year-old girl was ejected from the vehicle. The girl was treated for her injuries at the scene, and later died at Melrose Hospital. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.  
There were five other passengers in the vehicle, but no one else reported injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.
