Archived: Two Motorcylcists Die in Head On Collision in Benton County

On Thursday afternoon Benton County deputies were called to a crash that involved two motorcyclists on County Road 4 and County Road 61 in Gilmanton Township.

Both drivers were involved in the head on collision and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Sheriff Brad Bennett’s report, witnesses and early investigation revealed that 52-year-old Patrick Ogg of Foley was attempting to pass other vehicles just before the accident. When Ogg’s motorcycle went into the westbound lane to pass, it collided head-on with another motorcycle driven by 61-year-old Larry Sorenson of West Union.

Benton County Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, the Foley Police Department, the Foley Fire Department and the Bounty County Medical Examiner’s Office and the accident is still under investigation.
