Archived: Two Points With a Reality Check

It what could have been described as a boxing match between two heavy weight powers, the SCSU Men’s Hockey team may have dealt the first blow on Friday to the University of North Dakota but it was Saint Cloud that left with a black eye.

Saint Cloud took game one on Friday with a 4-3 win behind 43 saves by Dan Dunn and two more points by Ryan Lasch. The win pushed the Huskies into first place on the WCHA and charted Bob Motzko’s 100th career victory but the good times didn’t last long.

North Dakota came out firing on Saturday night and scored six goals in the 2nd period on their way to an 8-1 victory. It ended up being an actual boxing match as well with the players dropping the gloves multiple times and the teams combining for 22 power plays.

The Huskies will try and take the gut check and move on when they travel to take on #3 Wisconsin in Madison this weekend. Listen to the Husky-Badger games this Friday and Saturday on KVSC with puck drop both nights at 7:07 p.m.
