A body was found in the Mississippi river on Wednesday evening by a kayaker.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office received a call saying that there was a body on the west bank of the river between the St. Cloud Hospital and the water treatment plant.

The St. Cloud Police Department recovered the body of a 5’-6” tall male around 150 pounds. He was wearing a white or gray t-shirt with green stripes, tan jean shorts, and black socks. There was a small campsite located near the body, but police are unsure if it belonged to the man.

Police say it was evident that he had been there for some time. The remains were taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and an attempt to identify the body.
