Archived: University of Minnesota Duluth Challenges SCSU
SCSU has been challenged! University of Minnesota-Duluth Chancellor Lendley Black has “double dog dared” SCSU to a friendly competition: to see which school can raise the most money for Special Olympics Minnesota in the February 19th Polar Bear Plunge. In 2010 the Polar Bear Plunge included more than 7,000 participants and raised more than $1.4 million. UMD had a sizable lead when Lendley threw down the gauntlet, having 15 teams registered to St. Cloud State’s two. To add to the competition, St. Cloud State travels to Duluth for a February 11th and 12th men’s hockey series. It’s expected that the Top Dog Challenge will be at Amsoil Arena, and plans are in the works for the winning team to receive a travelling trophy.
