Archived: UPDATE: Name of Injured Clearwater Firefighter Released

KVSC has an update on the volunteer Clearwater firefighter who was hurt after getting hit by a car Tuesday morning. It happened just after 7:00 in the eastbound lanes of I-94 near Clearwater. The State Patrol says while the Clearwater Fire Department was responding to a car fire along the side of the road, another car hit Clearwater firefighter, 28-year-old Corey Broich, who was standing outside the fire truck. Broich was airlifted to the St. Cloud Hospital.

Clearwater Mayor, Lee Monk, tells KVSC that both of Broich’s legs are broken, but he will be okay. Monk says the Clearwater community is thankful that most of the damage is below Broich’s knees. Mayor Monk says Broich has been a Clearwater firefighter for five years, and is married with five children. A fund for Broich’s family has been set up at the Annandale State Bank on Highway 24 in Clearwater. For more details, visit KVSC.org.
