Archived: Volleyball Already at 7 Wins

Last year’s dismal 7-25 record is a distant memory for the St. Cloud State volleyball team. With their fast start under new head coach Michelle Blaeser, the squad has already matched its win total from last season after picking up a pair of victories this past weekend.

Friday the Huskies traveled to North Dakota to take on the University of Mary and they wasted no time picking up their first conference win of the year sweeping in three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-21. Lauren Cipperly led the charge with 12 kills and 12 digs.

Saturday the Huskies continued their success and notched win number seven in South Dakota over Northern State in match that went the five set distance. The Huskies were beaten badly in the first set 25-10, but battled back and won the deciding set 16-14.

St. Cloud is now 7-3 on the year, and 2-0 in the conference. The Huskies take on Southwest Minnesota State on Tuesday in Marshall, and will have their first home game Friday against MSU Moorhead at 7 PM at Halenbeck Hall. KVSC will be broadcasting that game live right here on 88.1 FM.
