Waite Park Police Seek Suspect Who Assaulted an Officer

Waite Park police are looking for help in locating a man who assaulted a police officer last Thursday and broke the officer’s arm.

Police Chief David Bentrud says the injury stems from a shoplifting complaint Thursday night at Menard’s. Two suspects had fled the store and the officer found one of the men and tried to take him into custody.

Bentrud says that while trying to handcuff 23-year-old Derek Douglas Plante, he struggled with the officer and the officer’s arm was broken. Plante is now wanted on 3rd and 4th degree assault and theft charges.

Dean Fredrick Drosie

The other suspect authorities are seeking is 20-year-old Dean Fredrick Drosier. Both men are from Little Falls.

You are asked to contact the Waite Park Police Department if you know of their whereabouts or you can report information anonymously to Tri-County Crimestoppers.
