Archived: Watchdog Requests Probe of Bachmann Rally
An ethics watchdog group is asking for an investigation into a Washington rally organized by U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann earlier this month. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington says the Minnesota Republican broke House rules by using her official Website to drum up support for the November 5th rally.
The group says Bachmann failed to get a permit for the gathering and called it a press conference even though it drew thousands of conservatives opposed to the Democrats’ proposed health care overhaul.
A spokesman in Bachmann’s office referred questions to the House Administration Committee. A spokesman for the committee chairman didn’t immediately respond to an e-mail message.
