A woman was shot this morning in south St. Cloud and was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries.

The St. Cloud Police Department says that this morning, just before 9 a.m., a 42-year-old woman was shot several times near the 1000 block of 15^th Avenue South. Officers arrived at the scene after the suspect fled in a vehicle. The suspect was later taken into custody about an hour later near Becker.

The victim was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital where she is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting is currently being investigated by the St. Cloud Criminal Investigation Unit. It is believed that this was not a random accident and that the suspect and victim know each other.
