Archived: Woman Steals from JC Penney for 2nd Time in a Year, Police Say

A Minneapolis woman is in jail for trying to steal merchandise from JC Penney for the second time in a year, police say. It happened just before 1:00 pm Tuesday at the Crossroads Mall in St. Cloud. Police say 19-year-old Lateaka Williams shoplifted more than $1,100 dollars worth of products from JC Penney. When staff tried to detain the suspect, police say she fought with and assaulted one of the employees. That employee sustained minor injuries. Williams was arrested and is being held in the Stearns County Jail.

Police eventually learned Williams was arrested last July for shoplifting at JC Penney and gave a false name to police.
