Archived: Women’s Basketball Goes 1-1 at Hoopsfest
It was an up and down weekend for the Saint Cloud State women’s basketball team as they went 1-1 at the NSIC Holiday Hoopsfest in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In game one the Huskies got a career high 28 points from sophomore guard Becca Friestleben as they defeated the University of Mary 78-69. Talisha Barlow had a solid all around game with ten points, dished out six assists and pulled down five rebounds for SCSU.
Sunday saw Friestleben led the Huskies in scoring again as she dropped 17 points on Augustana, but it was the Vikings coming out with the win 84-63. The Augustana defense swarmed the Huskies all night long, limiting SCSU to just over 30 percent shooting from the floor. The Vikings were led by Molly Hayes as she had a double-double with 17 points and ten assists. Saint Cloud State will return home this weekend as they take on Winona State on Friday and Upper Iowa on Saturday at Halenbeck Hall. Tip-off Friday is at 6 p.m. and Saturday the game will start at 4 p.m.
