Young Girl Seriously Injured In ATV Crash
An ATV crash has left a child in severe condition.
On Saturday morning, Eve Shaw, a 9-year-old of Freeport, was riding on a Polaris Ranger ATV being driven by Eve Smith, an 11-year-old of Melrose, on her parent’s property. Smith was wearing a seatbelt, while Shaw was not, and she tried to go around a curve and lost control of the vehicle. Shaw was thrown from the ATV.
Smith sustained minor injuries but Shaw sustained life-threatening injuries. She was brought to Melrose Hospital and has since been airlifted to an unknown hospital in the Twin Cities.
Speed is seen as a key factor in the cause right now but the crash remains under investigation.
