Archived: Zabrick to Captain Women’s Hockey Team

Jocelyn Zabrick is taking the reigns as the next captain of the St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey team. The team announced today via press release that Zabrick was named captain of the Huskies for the 2011-12 season. Forwards Brittany Toor and Alex Nelson will serve as alternate captains.

Zabrick is entering her junior season for St. Cloud State and spent last season at center after playing defense in her first year. The Airdrie, Alberta native has zero goals and eight assists in 62 career games.

Toor served as an alternate captain last season in her junior year. Hailing from Hartland, Michigan, Toor notched finished fourth on the team with four goals last season while battling a back injury. Toor has tallied nine goals and 11 assists in 101 games as a Husky.

Nelson will be a junior next season and will be expected to help lead the Huskies offensively. The forward from Andover, Minnesota had eight points last season after scoring 12 her freshman season. Nelson has 11 goals and nine assists for St. Cloud.

Last year, the Huskies finished last in the WCHA, and had a 1-33-1 record overall. The team will take the ice for its new season in late September.
