Are you a nature lover looking to help out? Stearns County is looking for volunteers to get together and help control the buckthorn population.

Buckthorn was originally brought from Europe in the mid 1800’s and is currently one of Minnesota’s most invasive shrub species.

The group will be removing buckthorn in Rockville County Park and Nature Reserve on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. Volunteers are encouraged to bring sturdy clothes, gloves, shoes suitable for brushy conditions, and lopers/pruning saws.
